Gippsland Cardiac Tech
Our company is based in East Gippsland, and our team has provided Cardiac Investigation services to the region for over 10 years. The Service principal, Sean Priestly, trained at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and has over 25 years of experience in Cardiac Technology.
He is supported by a group of experienced visiting Technologists, all of whom work at tertiary Melbourne Hospitals. We live locally and take pride in responding to requests to investigate urgently unwell patients.
An Echocardiogram or ‘Echo’ is a detailed ultrasound examination of the heart.
A Saline Contrast Study involves placement of a small intravenous drip into a right arm vein (similar to a blood test). Several small doses of saline will be injected into the vein, while heart ultrasound pictures are taken at the same time.
A Stress Echocardiogram is a combination of heart ultrasound and a treadmill stress test.
A Holter Monitor is used to record heart rhythm over a set period (usually 24hrs), to check for heart arrhythmias.
An ambulatory Blood Pressure monitor is used to record blood pressure monitors over a 24 hour period.
